Day
1
The following modules will be covered during the first
day:
Module
1: Introduction
Overview of course and classroom.
Module
2: What is Desktop Authority?
Benefits of Desktop Authority will be discussed providing
an initial understanding of the enhancements and functionality
provided to administrators.
Module
3: Installing Desktop Authority
The different methods of installation
will be discussed. The lab will allow all students to install
Desktop Authority, which will reinforce the material covered
during this module.
Module
4: Desktop Authority Concepts
The process in which Desktop Authority
configures the desktop will be examined, along with a review
of available Option Files and the Desktop Agent.
Module
5: Configuring Global Options
The configuration of Global Options
will be covered. The Assigning of Logon Scripts, Anti-Spyware
Reporting, Patch Distribution and all others will be covered.
Module
6: Configuring Profiles and Configuration Elements
What is the purpose of a Profile and
Element will be covered. The difference between a profile
and an element will be discussed as well as the creation
and modification of each.
Day
2
Module 7: Validation Logic
In this module the usage of Validation Logic will be explored.
The following formats of Validation will be covered: Operating
System, Class, Timing, Connection, Type and Boolean Logic.
Module
8: Objects- General, Pre / Post Engine Scripts, Legal Notice
and TimeSync
In this module the configuration of General Settings, the
running of scripts Pre and Post Engine, Legal Notice and
Time synchronization will be covered.
Module
9: Objects- Display, Security Policies, Registry and Drives
In this module the configuration of
the Display settings, Security Policies, Registry and Drive
mapping will be covered.
Module
10: Objects - Path, Environment, Service Packs and Patch
Deployment
In this module the configuration options
of Path, Environment Variables, Service Pack deployment
and the optional Patch Deployment will be explored.
Module
11: Objects- Application Launcher, Printers, INI and Folder
Redirection
In this module the usage of Application Launcher,
Printer mapping, INI Files and Folder Redirection will be
explored.
Module
12: Objects - Common Folder Redirection, File Operations,
Permissions and Shortcuts
In
this module the usage of Common Folder Redirection, File
Operations, setting of Permissions on file / folders and
the registry and deployment of Shortcuts will be discussed.
Day 3
The following modules will be covered during the third
day:
Module
13: Objects - Microsoft Office, Internet, Mail Profile and
Outlook
In this module the configuration of the Microsoft Office
suite, Internet settings, creation of a Microsoft Exchange
mail profile andconfiguration of Outlook will be covered.
Module
14: Objects - Remote Management, Inactivity, Firewall and
Spyware
In this module the configuration and
deployment of Remote Management, Inactivity, Firewall configuration
capabilities for Microsoft XP with Service Pack 2 and configuration
of the optional Spyware scanning will be covered.
Module
15: Objects - Message, Logging and Alerts
In this module the configuration of Messaging,
Logging, and Alerts will be discussed.
Module
16: Remote Management
In this module, Remote Management capabilities
will be discussed and explored. All options will be reinforced
during the lab's performed within the module.
Prerequisites:
To complete this course successfully, students should possess
the following prerequisites.
- Network Adminstration experience using Microsoft NT
/ Windows Server 2000 / Windows Server 2003
